Self-Love

As I watch youtube, facebook, and any other social media it’s come to my attention lately of women doing outrageous lifestyle changes to “fit in” with society. We look at magazines and see flawless women on every cover. No imperfections, looking perfect. I think we all go through a stage when we just want to fit into what society wants us to look like. Being a certain size. Having flawless skin. The perfect hair even. I went through that stage and eventually grew out of it. During that part of my life I felt everything but happy. It was hard just to fit in. Being bi-racial I couldn’t just pick a “group” to hang out with.

Over time we learn to hate our imperfections and how to hide them as much as possible. We learn to hate ourselves instead of loving ourselves and it’s a long way back to self love once you break down your self down that far.

Love your imperfections. Love who you are. Love yourself. Nothing and no one in this lifetime can take that from you. There is only one of you that is your superpower. Do not hide what makes you, you. You are perfect in your own right. You may not look like a Victoria Secret model but that’s ok. You may not have the flawless skin or hair and again that’s ok. You are unique and have your own qualities you bring to the world. As long as you love yourself others will fall in love with that too. Show others how amazing they already are, bring them up don’t break them down. Self love will always be the best love.

The Future, Don’t Stress

The more I think about the future the more excited I get about it. Sometimes the future can scare us, give us anxiety, or give us joy. Sometimes it can do all of the above. I have had a habit of thinking of the negative that can happen instead of the good. It’s always been a habit of mine, some of my life events just encouraged that aspect of my life to stay longer than it should. With graduation closing on in I have only thinking of the positive things to come and for once I haven’t second guessed myself by it. There is always something positive to look forward to. We have to find the rainbow between the storms. It may not always be easy but even the lightning can guide us. Seek happiness when thinking of the future. You never truly know the blessings coming your way.

Halloween Is Upon Us Again

Halloween is one of favorite yet scary holidays for me. Let me explain! I love Halloween because I love to see the creativity of others around me when it comes to costumes and of course the candy. Yet, I am the biggest child when it comes to haunted houses and scary movies. You won’t find me inside a haunted house and I’ll probably be covering my eyes if I happen to watch a scary movie. BUT it is still one of my top holiday’s to celebrate, yes I know the struggle is real. So today, as we go out with the ghouls and witches of the night please stay safe. Keep an eye on the little ones and please don’t drink and drive after those Halloween parties. Enjoy the festivities and watch out for what lurks in the darkness!

Monday Thought’s

As the dreaded Monday’s are upon us yet again, I got to thinking (as I always do). Why do we tend to think that Monday’s are the worst? We portray Monday as though it was Friday the 13th week after week. I can’t be the only one who has heard, “It’s Monday” when things don’t  go our way. Again, I’m guilty of this at times!

The positivity we have carrying the other six days out the week should be changed to seven. So how do we get out of this slump you ask?

1) We can remember our blessings and be humbled by it, let our hearts grow two inches bigger

OR

2) Feel like Grinch who stole Christmas

We are ultimately in control of what we feel and how we display it to others. We can feed into the negativity or instead be the sunshine someone may need in their lives. No one and I mean no one can make us feel anything or think disheartening thoughts. It took me a LONG time to figure that out, call me stubborn in my ways as most of us are. Yet, when we think about the inconveniences in our lives, are they really inconveniences?

We have to go to work on Monday’s. In reality you are blessed as some can’t find work.

Balancing life, work life, our children, and spouse. We have a loving family and have love to come home to.

Count your rainbows 🙂

You’re Enough

Happy Sunday Everyone!

I went to church today and it got me thinking about something from the sermon. How many times a week do we criticize ourselves? Think about what we should of accomplished instead of thinking about the things we did achieve?

I’m guilty of this. We’re so hard on ourselves even when we’re acheieving so much in life, it never seems good enough. Take a step back and breathe. Enjoy living in the moment again and just enjoying life. Let go of the worries and stress from our lives and concentrate on what we have. We are all so blessed in life, now let us bring that joy to others! 🙂

Letting the past go

How great would life be if we could simply forget our past and live in the present? No worries, no stress, just peace.

At times we forget to leave our past behind us. Fall is the perfect example of accomplishing this. Take a moment and go outside. Look at how lovely the leaves look as they fall from the trees around you. Remember that feeling you felt when you were watching and focus it in your own life. Simply let it go.

The feeling you’ll get from it will surely your bring you the peace you’re looking for!

About me

As the legend goes, when the phoenix resurrects from the flames, she is even more beautiful than before.

Sometimes in life we struggle with keeping positivity and faith near us. We tend to forget the things that keep us fighting each and every day.

I made this site to help with the every day struggle anyone might be feeling. To be the positivity in life anyone may need. To give you another reason to keep fighting when you may think the war is over.

Lighthouses always brought me peace. The light it gives brings you back home, to your center. Brings you in from the darkness or danger. My hope is that this site will help you find the same peace.
